USNSCC Battleship Utah Division

LT Michael C. McFalls

Commanding Officer

LT Michael C. McFalls

I am a former Firefighter/Lieutenant and Hazardous Materials Technician who has served the youth of Utah in various capacities. Over the years, I have had a lot of medical training, including EMT, ER Tech and Surgical Technologist to name a few. I currently work as a Criminal Information Tech with the Utah Department of Public Safety/Bureau of Criminal Identification. I spent 15 years working with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. I started with the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps 11 FEB 2015 serving with the Training Ship CAPT Mervyn S. Bennion as an Instructor, Executive Officer, and Commanding Officer in Charge. In April 2021, I assumed command of both the Battleship Utah (BB-31) Division and the Training Ship CAPT Mervyn S. Bennion. I believe that it is our duty as officers to mold our next generation of citizens, whether they go into the military or other walks of life. They will be our future and we should give them all of the skills they need to succeed.

I started with Sea Cadets at age 10 and continued until I was 18. It saved my life in so many ways and it made me the person I am today. I wanted to give back and teach the next generation of youth &  hopefully, they will love the program as much as I do. I am also an Eagle Scout. I am currently in school for welding & have plans to go into pipeline welding & fabrication.
